Commission investigation reports, convictions and matters before the court
The Commission conducts corruption investigations to determine whether there has been corrupt conduct. To date, the Commission has published 2 investigation reports.
The Commission does not make findings of criminal guilt. If evidence of a criminal offence is found, a brief of evidence may be sent to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) for their consideration of whether there is sufficient evidence for charges to be laid.
Investigations commenced or continued by the Commission since 1 July 2023 have resulted in 7 criminal convictions, with another 5 matters currently before the court.
Where there is a conviction, the Commission will not necessarily publish an investigation report because the corrupt conduct has already been exposed and dealt with by the Court.
